My family loves to come down here every year for a little getaway and shopping trip. Even with the exchange, my Dad always manages to find some amazing deals. We are about a five hour drive away from the city.
We have a couple different hotels that we keep coming back to. Once we find something we like, my family doesn't stray from a good deal. We always stay at a hotel with breakfast. It makes the morning so much easier and we can get to exploring as soon as possible.
We always visit the city center. We used to go to the Science Museum every time but eventually we drove a different path. It was really interesting to have an interactive view on science. It is a very hands on and family-friendly. There are a wide variety of attractions and fun for all ages.
My favourite as a kid was the Children's museum. I usually still beg my parents to go but they tell me I'm too old. Not fair. Anyways, this museum has a lot of interactive areas including a grocery store, arts and crafts center and fun playgrounds. We always had a blast. Now with COVID-19 I'm sure things are not the same.
We would often go to the Seattle Center to admire the Space needle and to cool off at the water fountain. We would spent hours just sitting the sun and playing around the area.
A few years ago we discovered this awesome jungle apparatus that my siblings and I had so much fun with. If you can go on a day that is not crawling with screaming children, it can actually be a ton of fun!
The beach, despite sometimes chilly is always a great break from the big city. Get out of the traffic and beach comb along the coast to find a perfect beach spot. We found many little parks and public beach access areas to relax after an adventuresome day. We spent a lot of time at the many beach locations along the coast. We didn't swim much because of the cool water, but it was always a great spot to relax after a long day of shopping our touring and sit back to watch the sun set. I can usually find ways to amuse myself by collecting shells or sea glass along the shore. My brother loved to find stinky seaweed to chase us with. We have certainly made many great memories at the many beaches in the Seattle area.
