One of my favourite things to do was simply wander. Take in the all the history and culture of the woven cobblestone streets.
Nyhavn
One bucket list location for Copenhagen travelers is Nyhavn - the famous colourful canal found on many post cards. I would be surprised if you’ve never seen a picture of this beautiful channel. It is truly a national landmark for Denmark and an amazing cultural experience. The buildings are colourful and display traditional Danish architecture. There are many popular but expensive hotels and restaurants that gather flocks of people to the picture perfect viewpoint.
"To travel is to live"- Hans Christian Anderson
We did a boat tour from here and I would really recommend giving this a shot. It was really interesting to learn that little bit more about the historic city. It is a great way to get some awesome photos and see the city from the water. The restaurants on Nyhavn can be quite pricey so if you’re on a budget, I would recommend wandering the streets away from the tourist traps. You can find some truly authentic little stores if you take the time to look. Nyhavn is a tad tourist based, but a picturesque location.
Strøget
If shopping’s your thing, I would suggest this one. It is one of the longest shopping strips in Europe at almost 1.1KM. Car free and solely pedestrian access. The stores tend to lean towards the extravagant side and can certainly be a bit more costly. You can still find some excellent little cafés after a long day of shopping.
